Children's Museum

We spent a morning down in Olympia at the Children's Museum. We had heard great things about it but were hoping it would be okay for a two-year-old. Yep- no problem! It was right next to the capitol building and when Jack saw it he said, "That house is HUGE!"

The first thing we did was put Jack to work so he would get a feel for earning the rent. This was in the "market" section where the kids could pick produce, drive it to the store, stock the shelves and then sell everything to the grownups!

No surprise- he liked driving the delivery truck best!

Questioning the freshness of the food, he decided to perform his own quality-check... on everything... by dumping it on the floor.

Then there was the "hospital" section. There were even dolls to rescue and resuscitate. And of course, Jack wanted to drive the ambulance more than "play doctor" with all the girls. Lame!

Our dentist would be so proud of that flossing job in the dentistry section!

Stealing a chicken from the hen house and grinning like a little fox the whole time!

He loved pushing in all these colored pins...

...but would freak out when they magically (a.k.a. Daddy) pushed back in!

Grammy has been teaching Jack to throw rocks like a proper boy back in California, and as soon as he saw these "boulders" he knew just what to do! We are glad they didn't ask us to leave.

There was a really neat water table that had a pretty strong current running through it. You could block-off sections to increase or decrease the flow at certain spots. Jack played here for quite a while and had a great time feeding the survivors of his shipwreck to a nearby shark.

Jack made a little friend in the playdough area and couldn't resist impressing her with a funny face. But when Dad joined in, the poor little girl started crying hysterically! Bad Daddy!

He played "scoops" with this lentil-table for a really long time. We were just glad he didn't try to eat any of them!

More "scoops" in the sand castle area! He may have eaten some of this, though.

While Jack was busy scooping, Dad got caught playing in the mechanics section. He didn't notice the camera filming him for a good five-minutes because he was concentrating so hard on all the toys meant for six-year-olds...

Making another friend in the "Port of Seattle" exhibit. This part was awesome and had a working crane that would load and unload cargo from a huge ship!

Yep- we're pretty sure Dad enjoyed the Children's Museum as much as Jack.

He wanted to go back to the market area before we left and tried tasting some of the delicious fake cupcakes. Gross.

One last chance to harvest some healthy apples and drive them to the store before we drove to Taco Bell for some healthy lunch! I guess we didn't learn anything, but it was really fun anyway!
