Like a Spaceship

After two summers Jack decided this week that going underwater isn't so bad.  From out of nowhere he just started jumping off the pool step and dunking his head entirely under water.

Today we braved the next step..... letting Daddy throw him "like a spaceship" up in the air.

 Countdown to launch.

 "Oh boy, here we go!"

 We have lift off!!

 Look at that spaceship fly.

And check out that full dunk!

He definitely wasn't too sure about that.  However, with a little mom persuasion (i.e. bribing) we got ready for round 2.

"I can't believe I'm letting him do this again."

 Good form.......

Oh, but he gets a deduction for not keeping his legs together.

SPLASH

Jackisms

Jack has been saying some pretty interesting things lately. Here are some of the highlights that will make you smile:

1. Mom: "What did you do at school today?"
Jack: "Some pretty cool stuff. You wouldn't understand."

2. (In the bathroom) "Dad, guess what the toilet told my penis? Hey, you sank my battleship!"

3. "Mom, seriously?!?"

4. (On his way out the door)
Mom: "Jack, where are you going?"
Jack: "I'm gonna change the world with my Thneed!" (Dr. Seuss)

5. Jack: "I played with a girl named Sociana at school today."
Granddaddy: "Oh yeah, is she hot?"
Jack: "Yeah, her hair gets all sweaty when she's at recess."

Bob

Nathan has started to pick up a few words now and can say a lot of the basics you would expect like: Dad, Jack, dog, cat- even Auntie from when Auntie T.C. visited! The one word that is strangely missing from his current vocabulary: Mom. He refuses to say "Mom" and it is driving Amy crazy!!! Where this gets funny, though, is that somewhere along the line he got a little confused and started calling her "Bob." And it has stuck. Jack finds this to be hysterical and encourages the use of Bob as much as possible. Bob is not a fan.

Love,
Ryan, Bob, Jack and Nathan

Fort Jackalope

Mommy had to go to Seattle for a conference so the boys made a sweet fort in the living room.

After it was built Jack decided on the name Fort Jackalope.

 This is no small fort!

Daddy couldn't wait for an excuse to bring out that freaky stuffed Jackalope.

Even Nate and Mickey enjoyed it!

After coming up with the perfect name, Jack decided on the rules... no pirates and no girls (except Susie and Claire).

I don't want to know what "lesson" Nate is being taught here.

The ancient "circling of the Jackalope" dance.

Making some needed repairs.

Tubin'

We had another awesome boating day with some friends of ours from Fresno.  This trip, Jack couldn't wait to get back on the tube - no bribing required!

 "Faster - Faster!!"

We may have gone a little too fast.  Jack got hit with this huge wall of water straight to the face - oops!

Allee and Matthew

 Show off!

Don't worry - I showed him right back!  It didn't end well :)

Bette Davis Eyes

So it's no secret that we tend to enjoy classic 80's hits - maybe a little more frequently than we realized.  A few months ago Jack announced that the awesome 80's song Bette Davis Eyes was our "family song."  It wasn't until he started singing most of the words that we decided we might be stuck in the wrong decade!

Happy 4th Of July

Happy 4th of July!

Nate was cruisin around the golf course waiting for his first fireworks show!

Jack was super excited about sparklers this year.

 Ahhh.....fire!!!

Jack and neighbor Ella doing fireworks.

Nate celebrating our friend Sophie's first birthday.

 Summersaults!

Big brother Jack is all about protecting his little brother from dangerous things - like stairs - and does this by carrying him away "like a fork lift."

If you zoom in you can see some of the 6+ teeth that ALL popped through last week!!

The Chicken Rides Again!

So we were only about a month late getting the boat, The Chicken of The Sea, out on the water but better late than never!

Nate's first trip in the boat!!

 Check out this cool dude!

Claire and Jack. When they get married later in life, their celebrity-couple-name will be "Clack."

It was baby Mary's first boat trip too!

 Susie and Jack clowning around.

Having some fun on the lake.

Yes, we did use Mary's floaty to put Nate down for a nap on the boat, what???? It actually worked really well after we built a towel-tent over him to keep the sun off.

After much encouragement (and the bribe of frozen yogurt) we convinced Jack to go tubing - and guess what - he LOVED it!

Some silly monkey faces to wrap up a great day.
